Hey, I’m Kirrilly

Are you on the lookout for an awesome elopement photographer in Newcastle to capture the magic of your intimate celebration in some incredible destinations? Look no further! I specialise in capturing heartfelt moments in all shapes and forms, all across Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Australia.

I've got a real soft spot for elopements as a photographer. They give couples the chance to create a day that's all about their love and connection, set against the jaw-dropping landscapes Australia has to offer. As an artist, I live for capturing those precious moments shared between two people and turning them into timeless photos that tell your one-of-a-kind love story against some seriously epic backdrops.

Eloping is all about breaking free from the traditional wedding norms and doing things your own way. No rules, no unnecessary stress—just a day that's authentic to your relationship and totally centred around you as a couple.

Picture saying your vows against the breathtaking silhouette of Uluru as the sun sets, casting a golden glow over the ancient rock formations. Or how about immersing yourselves in the enchanting beauty of Tasmania? You'll have lush forests, rugged mountains, and pristine beaches as the backdrop for your intimate ceremony. And if you're all about that coastal vibe, the Gold Coast has got you covered with its stunning beaches. Imagine exchanging your vows with the sound of crashing waves and the warm sand between your toes—it's pure magic!

No matter which destination steals your heart—Uluru, Tasmania, or the Gold Coast—I'll be there to capture every single moment of your elopement adventure. My focus is on capturing the raw emotions, those intimate little moments, and all the artistic details that make your day truly special.

My photography style

As an Australian elopement photographer, my photography style is relaxed, honest, and always fun. I document your special day in the most natural and candid manner possible. I believe in preserving the authenticity and honesty of each moment without forcing artificial poses. By shooting unobtrusively, I provide you with the space to relax and be yourselves, enabling me to capture spontaneous and heartfelt moments throughout the day and into the night. After all, it is your connection and love that brought you here.

Every couple is different, which means every story is unique, and I'm here for it all. The planning, the crying, and the dance floor on the wedding night. Just a heads up, I do tend to bust out a few Kath and Kim moves, which may leave quite a lasting impression!

I’ll be here as your guide with your planning, your cheerleader on the day, and your fun-filled photographer capturing your magical moments.

Whether you choose an elopement with just the two of you or decide to share your special day with a few more cherished souls, the magic lies in the connection. It's about creating moments that are deeply personal and meaningful, surrounded by the people who matter most to you.

So, embrace the idea of an elopement or an intimate wedding if it speaks to your heart. It's all about celebrating love, creating memories, and cherishing the joy of being together.

So, why elope?

Couples elope for a multitude of reasons, and it's no wonder why. Traditional wedding planning can be overwhelming and stressful, and let's face it, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Eloping offers an escape from complicated family dynamics, potential conflicts over religious or cultural differences, and the pressure to conform to societal expectations.

Pros:

  • Picture-Perfect Locations:

Oh, the wonders of Australia! From the world-famous Great Barrier Reef to jaw-dropping Outback vistas, lush rainforests, and golden beaches, this place has it all. As an Australian elopement photographer, I can assure you that saying your vows against these incredible backdrops will make your photos truly out-of-this-world.

  • Just the Two of You (and Maybe a Few More):

Privacy, my friends, is the name of the game when it comes to elopements. You can escape the chaos of traditional weddings and say "I do" with only your sweetheart by your side. You can even bring along a small crew of your favourite people to witness your love story unfold in an intimate setting.

  • Hassle-Free Planning:

Let's be real; planning a wedding can be a headache. But eloping in Australia? It's a whole different ball game. With elopement packages galore and dedicated wedding planners who know the ins and outs of romance, you can sit back, relax, and let them take care of the nitty-gritty details. Less stress more time to focus on your love.

Cons:

  • Distant Shores and Travel Costs:

Alright, let's address the elephant in the room: Australia isn't just around the corner for everyone. If you're not already chilling Down Under, be ready to face some travel costs, including flights and accommodations. Oh, and don't forget the paperwork and visas you might need to navigate. But hey, love knows no bounds, right?

  • Keep It Intimate:

Eloping means keeping the guest list short and sweet. If you've always dreamed of a massive celebration with your extended family, Aunt Susan's knitting club, and the neighbour's dog, eloping might not be your cup of tea. It's all about creating an intimate experience shared only with those closest to you.

  • Say Goodbye to Tradition (Sort Of):

Traditional weddings often come with fancy bridal parties, over-the-top decor, and receptions that could rival a royal gala. With elopements, you'll need to say goodbye to some of those classic traditions. But fear not! You can still add personal touches and symbolic gestures to make your elopement uniquely you.

What is an elopement?

An elopement is all about keeping things cozy, romantic, and personal. It's a sweet and intimate way for a couple to tie the knot without the fuss of a big wedding and all the guests. Instead, it's just the two lovebirds exchanging vows in their own little bubble of happiness.

Picture this: a breathtaking location, maybe a secluded beach or a cozy cabin in the woods. It's just the couple holding hands and promising to love each other forever. There are no distractions, no formalities, just pure love and commitment.

Now, let's talk about the guest list. The number of guests at an elopement can be up for discussion. I believe an elopement truly captures that intimate vibe when there are fewer than 20 guests. It's a small, tight-knit group of people who are truly important to the couple and their journey together.

But hey, if you're a bit more sociable and want to include a few more loved ones, I get it! That's where the idea of an intimate wedding comes in. Think of it as a step up from an elopement but still keeping things cozy. An intimate wedding, in my book, means having under 50 guests. It's a chance to celebrate with your closest family and friends, those who have been there for you through thick and thin.

Got a question?

If you have any questions at all, check out our frequently asked questions (FAQs). If you can't find the information you need, please feel free to get in touch via the contact form, and I will be happy to help in any way I can.

  • I absolutely can! Depending on what you’re after and what region, there are some beautiful and diverse places and venues available for elopements. Reach out to get in touch, and I’m more than happy to guide you through the many options.

  • I try to keep my sessions as natural and relaxed as possible, capturing the action as it happens. I keep posing to a minimum and make the sessions fun, which enables me to photograph authentic images and real moments. Nothing fake, just you and your favourite people!

  • I’ll get in touch a few days before your big day after checking out the weather forecast. If it looks like rain, don’t stress! Venues will usually have a wet weather backup option available, so make sure to keep in touch with your venue coordinator in case you need to change your location. I always come prepared for rainy skies, however, with a supply of clear umbrellas ready to go.

  • Yes, I sure do! I work with an amazing company that creates beautiful handmade fine-art albums. For more information, please get in touch.

  • The term ‘posed photos’ has always bad rep, and people tend to cringe when they’re mentioned. And whilst you may think that those beautiful photos look incredibly natural, there is always an element of posing involved. However, my approach is a little bit different as I always like to direct, not pose. I always start my sessions with some form of direction or activity, whether that be to go for a walk or to give your child a cuddle. This gives you something to do, without you feeling unnatural and staged. Before you know it, you’ve forgotten all about ‘posing’, and you’re able to just relax and be creative in the environment.

  • Normally your photos will be fully edited and ready for viewing 3 - 4 weeks after your session. These will be provided to you in a private online gallery where you can download copies directly. Prints and artwork can also be ordered directly from the gallery. Wedding galleries can take a bit longer however, and our turn-around-time is roughly 6-8 weeks.

  • For portrait sessions, simply get in touch, and we can find a date that works for you. A non-refundable deposit is due upon booking to secure your spot, which will be taken from your chosen package.

For weddings, I always like to organise a coffee and a chat first to discuss details and ideas.

Reach out and get in touch.

  • Yes, I can absolutely offer payment plans for all wedding clients. If you’re interested in a payment plan for a portrait session, simply get in touch and we can work something out for you.

  • I completely understand that sometimes life get’s busy, and illnesses come up often. The deposit paid upon booking secures your date and is non-refundable. This protects your date from any more bookings and protects my business. If you do need to reschedule for any reason, please get in touch as soon as you can I will do my absolute best to find something that works for you. If for any reason I am unable to accommodate your new date, I have a great network of local photographers who may be able to assist.
